2018: An adventure, a frustration, an idea.

Emma and James, a British couple passionate about travel, lived an active and fulfilling life filled with exploration and discovery. Residing in Bath, in the southwest of England, they balanced demanding careers—Emma as a product designer and James as an innovation engineer—with their shared love for adventure. The birth of their daughter Lily in 2017 transformed their priorities, but not their desire to continue exploring the world.

During a family trip to the Lake District in the summer of 2018, they encountered an unexpected challenge: bulky, uncomfortable, and impractical baby gear that hindered their experiences. What should have been an exhilarating family hike turned into a frustrating logistical battle.

One evening, after a tiring day, Emma turned to James and said:
“Why is this so difficult? We should be able to enjoy adventures with Lily without it feeling like a struggle.”

That moment marked the beginning of Twinie.

2019: The Genesis of Twinie

Back home in Bath, Emma and James decided to turn their frustration into a solution. Together, they embarked on a mission to design a product that would meet the needs of active parents like themselves. Their ambition was clear: to create elegant, practical, and reliable gear tailored to modern lifestyles.

Throughout 2019, they worked tirelessly:

  1. Emma sketched innovative prototypes inspired by her design expertise.
  2. James tested lightweight, durable materials to ensure optimal comfort and versatility.

They also conducted interviews with dozens of British parents to understand their pain points and expectations. By December 2019, after months of rigorous testing and refinement, the first Twinie prototype was ready: lightweight, modular, and designed for every kind of adventure, from urban strolls in London to hikes in the Peak District.

2020: Launching a Parenting Revolution

In March 2020, Emma and James officially launched Twinie in the UK. Despite the challenges of a global pandemic, their commitment and vision quickly resonated with young parents.

May 2020: Their first online campaign featured real families sharing how Twinie simplified their daily lives. With authentic testimonials and captivating visuals, they achieved over 1,000 sales in just two months.

August 2020: Twinie was recognized by ergonomics experts, winning the Family Innovation Award 2020 for its groundbreaking design.

2021–2023: Global Expansion

Twinie’s success in the UK paved the way for international growth.

  • 2021: Expansion into European markets, starting with France and Germany, where Twinie quickly became a must-have for active parents.
  • 2022: Introduction of an eco-friendly product line, using recycled materials to meet the expectations of environmentally conscious families.
  • 2023: Launch in North America with a strong presence on social media, showcasing families exploring national parks and bustling cities with Twinie by their side.
